Projects.<\/p>\n<p>A primeira fase do projeto come\u00e7ou em julho de 2011 com a reconstru\u00e7\u00e3o do ber\u00e7o 12, que terminou em novembro de 2012. Um estudo de viabilidade de 2007 concluiu que as paredes do cais estavam deterioradas e que os cais de estacas-pranchas de a\u00e7o de 60 anos estavam falhando. <\/p>\n<p>As novas paredes do cais e os ber\u00e7os aprofundados acomodam equipamentos fixos de carga e descarga no cais. Eles tamb\u00e9m garantem flexibilidade para acomodar mudan\u00e7as futuras em v\u00e1rios tipos de carga movimentados no recinto, incluindo cont\u00eaineres. Entre outras coisas, o escopo do trabalho envolveu a demoli\u00e7\u00e3o das paredes do cais existentes, a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de novas paredes do cais com estacas-pranchas de a\u00e7o e prote\u00e7\u00e3o contra eros\u00e3o, al\u00e9m da demoli\u00e7\u00e3o de bases e funda\u00e7\u00f5es de concreto. Maydon Wharf \u00e9 o maior recinto de manuseio de cargas secas e a granel no Porto de Durban.
